Position: Career Training Instructor – Entrepreneurship
Location: Wayne Township Adult Education – Ben Davis University
Employment Type: Part-Time Evenings Mon, Tues, & Thursday
Reports To: Coordinator for Career Training & Employer Services
Position Overview
The Career Training Instructor – Entrepreneurship is responsible for delivering entrepreneurship instruction aligned to Wayne Township Adult Education’s Integrated Education and Training (IET) model. Instruction focuses on core entrepreneurship content, workforce readiness, and preparation for the PITSCO U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification. Instruction is delivered using approved curriculum resources, lesson plans, presentations, hands-on activities, and assessments to ensure student success.
Qualifications
Valid teaching license or industry-recognized entrepreneurship/business credential
Experience in entrepreneurship, business ownership, or small business development preferred
Experience working with adult learners preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
Program Interactions
Attend student orientation and graduation
Respond to program-related emails within 24 hours (excluding weekends/holidays)
Review Weekly Career Training newsletters and remain informed of program procedures
Participate in hiring fairs, employer events, and required professional development
Complete required WTAE Vector Training
Submit supply requests through the WTAE ordering system
Sign in/out at the reception desk and wear WTAE ID badge at all times
Secure an approved substitute in the event of absence
Maintain student folders including Adult Learning Plans (ALPs)
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and competencies
Maintain classroom space and instructional readiness
Required Submissions:
ALPs (Weeks 6 and 12)
Midterm assessment (Week 6)
Final assessment (Week 14)
Remediation plan (Week 10)
Classroom inventory (Week 11)
Intent to Return form (Week 11)
Student Interactions
Prepare lessons in advance, including materials for hands-on learning
Verify and submit student attendance
Communicate grading policies and classroom expectations
Model professional conduct and workplace behavior
Maintain a positive, respectful learning environment
Identify students needing remediation and implement remediation plans
Support certification preparation and exam readiness
Collaborate with Employment Services to support self-employment or employment outcomes
Position may be filled at any time.
