Caseworker
The work involves responsibility for the provision of aging or social work services to individuals and/or their families to assist them with their aging, economic, emotional, social, and environmental difficulties. The work is carried out in accordance with modern, sound, well accepted aging/ social casework practices and procedures and involves interviewing individuals and families to determine areas where assistance is needed; developing case plans to meet identified needs; providing counseling and other services either directly or by referral; assessing effectiveness of developed plans and modifying them as needed; and performing record keeping associated with cases. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Senior Caseworker or Case Supervisor with leeway permitted for the exercise of independent judgment in developing and carrying out plans in individual cases. Direct assistance may be received from a Senior Caseworker or Case Supervisor in unusual or especially difficult cases. Direct supervision may be exercised over the activities of subordinate paraprofessional and/or clerical personnel. Assignments made to employees in this class will require access to transportation to meet field work requirements made in the ordinary course of business in a timely and efficient manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree;
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of appropriate-level NYS Driver License is required at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the time of service in this classification.
