Job description:Position OverviewWe are seeking enthusiastic and skilled ASL Instructors to lead after-school American Sign Language enrichment classes for elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate is patient, engaging, and passionate about introducing students to ASL through interactive lessons, vocabulary practice, games, and real-world application.The instructor will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment while supporting students of varying ages and proficiency levels.Program DetailsSalk Elementary SchoolAddress: 7825 Flanders Dr, San Diego, CAStart Date: January 8, 2026End Date: April 29, 2026Day: WednesdayTime: 2:30 PM – 4:30 PMGrade Levels: 1st – 5thWangenheim Middle SchoolAddress: 9230 Gold Coast Dr, San Diego, CAStart Date: January 9, 2026End Date: February 26, 2026Day: ThursdayTime: 1:20 PM – 3:20 PMGrade Levels: 5th – 8thKey ResponsibilitiesTeach ASL fundamentals including alphabet, vocabulary, phrases, conversational basics, and deaf culture awareness.Develop age-appropriate, engaging lessons for elementary and middle school students.Create a supportive environment that encourages participation and language growth.Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, respectful learning space.Prepare materials, set up the classroom, and clean up after each session.Communicate with on-site staff regarding attendance, classroom needs, and any student concerns.QualificationsExperience teaching ASL or working with students in an educational or enrichment setting.Proficiency in American Sign Language; ASL teaching experience preferred.Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of different ages.Reliable, punctual, and professional communication skills.Ability to create fun and interactive lesson plans.Schedule & CompensationPart-time, seasonal positions.Compensation discussed during the hiring process.Job Types: Part-time, ContractWork Location: In personPowered by JazzHR
