Sr. Circuit Engineer

Summary: The Senior Circuitry Engineer is integral to the development of electrical wiring systems in vehicles, ensuring that all components work together efficiently and reliably. This role demands a combination of technical expertise in electrical design and strong collaboration skills to effectively address complex engineering challenges. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop wire harnesses for various parts of vehicles, including the engine, instrument panel, and other key areas, specifically for North American vehicle programs. Translate system requirements into wiring designs, selecting appropriate fuses, cable types, sizes, and connector specifications. Technical Documentation: Wire Harness Design: Create detailed sub-system wiring diagrams, fuse load lists, grounding system layouts, and wire harness drawings using CAD software. Formulate drawings and layouts that adhere to quality, performance, cost, and development timing requirements. Collaboration and Troubleshooting: Work closely with system component engineers to ensure compatibility with components such as bus systems (OBD-II, CAN), airbags, audio systems, and engine control units (ECUs). Support and troubleshoot wiring harness issues during prototype builds and participate in resolving development and production problems. Project Management: Collaborate with the circuitry team to achieve project deliverables on time. Work to defined schedules and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Position Requirements: Education: A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering. Degrees in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering with relevant electrical experience are also acceptable. Experience: At least 5 years of experience as an electrical design engineer, specifically in the automotive or related industry. Familiarity with 2D electrical CAD software such as Zuken Cabling Designer, Capital, or Mentor Graphics. Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration with various teams. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve wiring-related issues effectively. Preferred Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Engineering. Experience in vehicle electronics development. Prior experience in wire harness development is considered a plus. Work Environment: This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring three days of onsite work and two days of remote work, with the possibility of overtime as needed.
