Operator Technician - OH
Position is available to International Bargaining Unit members only for the first seven (7) days
Do you have operator experience in a manufacturing plant setting? Come join our team monitoring and operating plant process and auxiliary equipment for the DUF6 project. The successful candidate will have knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic instruments.
NOTE: Substance Abuse Program Plan position and subject to random drug/alcohol testing.
Position Overview:
Under close supervision responsible for monitoring and operating plant process and auxiliary equipment for the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Functional:
Monitors and operates plant process and auxiliary equipment
Operates computer process control system vehicles, machinery, and equipment
Performs manual and mechanical work
Collects and interprets data
Holds responsibility for a phase or component of a process or operation
Takes active roles in coordination of work flow
Responds to emergency, fire, and hazardous events at the plant as frontline responder
Performs chemical cleaning and decontamination of large and small equipment in both cleaning building and process area as required
Operates the conversion process equipment and associated auxiliary equipment, routine data collection, and surveillance of work stations safely and efficiently
Performs functions in assigned utility to effect safe, efficient, and dependable service required to meet requirements of plant processes and equipment (i.e., maintains proper control of chemical feeds, gas and liquid ratios, temperatures, pressures, and flows; uses equipment to take samples and run tests, and makes necessary adjustments; performs minor departmental maintenance under supervision; connects, disconnects, fills and handles gas and liquid containers as required in assigned facility; operates control boards, reads meters and gauges, uses hand tools, performs inspections, lubricates, and makes minor adjustments; keeps logs and records of department activities)
Stores and handles material (i.e., performs clerical work pertinent thereto; operates various equipment for transporting cylinders and drums; drives heavy trucks and equipment; properly spaces and stores materials including weighing, tagging, and description of contents; performs inspection of containers before movement)
Maintains awareness of proper and current procedures to follow regarding work hazards and risks (i.e., cylinder rupture)
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
4+ years of chemical processing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Prefers Associate's Degree
Prefers nuclear or chemical facility processing experience
Prefers prior experience as an operator in a manufacturing plant setting
Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) credentia
