Blade Technician - 2nd shift

Blade Tech PositionSegers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking a Blade Tech to work 2nd shift (four 10-hour days, Monday - Thursday from 2pm until midnight with paid lunch). Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations and as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).Manually grinds and polishes propeller bladesLocates and prints out required documentation and records completionBoxes and unboxes blades from shipping cratesRemoves attached mechanical components from the bladeTakes blade measurements and recordsRemoves lead plugs from inside the blade using a high-pressure washerStrips paint and remove rubber parts from the blade tip using chemicalsRemoves cuff material using hammer/chisel or power toolsMaps and measures blades per Overhaul Manual and standard practicesVisually inspects items for defects throughout the processProficiently preps and packages for shipment to Outside Service/customerFollows directions and correctly and safely mixes and applies chemicalsMaintains chemical shelf life of in optimum quantitiesUses overhead lifting crane to move props to other stationsCure the blades in the oven to cure the cuffMasks, paints, and stencils the blade cuff based on a computer stenciling programSolders blade heater components to the bladePerform surface treatments and repairs to blades per Overhaul ManualMaintains a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and/or Debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored.Maintains a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions that may lead to harmTravels as requiredConfers with manager / lead to recommend changes such as equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase the efficiency of the department and promote improvementAttends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely mannerWorks when scheduled and complies with company attendance policyWorks overtime as neededObserves and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)Other duties as assignedSkills, Knowledge, and Abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)Must provide and maintain personal toolbox in accordance with Segers' Tool Control PlanMust be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasksMust be able to read and interpret SDS and Technical Data Sheets to safely mix paints in accordance with specificationsMust be able to use scales for mixing ratiosMust be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisorsMust be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiativeMust be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situationsMust be able to apply common senseMust be able to effectively read, write and communicate in EnglishMust be proficient in company specific software and Microsoft Office Word and ExcelMust be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs.Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPEMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionallyMust regularly be able to reach overheadMust regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and standMust be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionallyMust be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lensesMust be able to hear running machineryMust be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitivelyMust have exceptional eye-hand coordinationMust strive to continuously develop skills and pursue training opportunities.Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictionsMarginal Functions: (Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person, unless he / she proves unable to perform them after receiving training and / or accommodations that the company judges appropriate)Other duties as assignedExperience and Education Requirements:Must be at least 18 years or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required.Minimum of 1 year of professional hands-on experience, including manual work or entry level craftmanship required.Minimum of 1 year troubleshooting of aircraft, automotive and/or industrial engines and equipment or completion of an Aviation School is preferred.Must pass a criminal background check, and DOT-FAA pre-employment drug screen.Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations.
