Assistant Coach for Varsity Girls Water Polo, Saline High School Saline Athletics is seeking an outstanding individual to assist our Varsity Girls Swim & Dive program as an Assistant Coach. SAS strives to employ individuals who possess a strong work-ethic; are committed to providing children with boundless opportunities; and who understand that equity, inclusion and social justice are essential to the success of a school community in the 21st Century.Qualifications Required Education/CertificationHigh school diploma or GEDCurrent CPR/First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain)Lifeguard certification (or the ability to obtain)Preferred Education/CertificationCoaching education or sport-specific certifications (e.g. CAP 1, CAP 2, etc.)Required ExperiencePrevious successful coaching experience in the assigned sportDemonstrated ability to support a total sport program within the framework of the athletic departmentKnowledge of relevant sport rules and MHSAA regulationsPreferred ExperienceExperience coaching at the high school levelExperience collaborating with coaches, athletes, and community programsBackground in athlete development and trainingResponsibilities & Duties Assist the Head Coach in organizing and delivering practices, games, and team activitiesInstruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and conditioning necessary for successPromote good sportsmanship by modeling appropriate behavior and serving as a positive role modelCommunicate respectfully and effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and school personnelSupport athletes' academic, personal, and athletic growthAssist in supervising team members during practices, competitions, and team functionsHelp coordinate equipment, uniforms, travel plans, and other team logisticsAttend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as directedPerform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic DirectorEssential Duties Use computer systems and digital tools for scheduling, communication, and player managementOrganize and coordinate responsibilities under direction of the Head CoachCommunicate effectively in verbal and written formatsManage multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive tasksEngage in ongoing reflection and professional growthEstablish and maintain strong, collaborative relationshipsDemonstrate reliable attendance and punctualityPhysical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWork in school environments including indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. Requires physical stamina, communication skills, and mental alertness. Includes standing, walking, lifting, and navigating athletic spaces. Travel may be required for away contests and practices.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise athletes during all team-related activities. Reports to the Head Coach.EquipmentUse and maintenance of athletic equipment relevant to the sport.TravelTravel required for practices, games, and events.Work ScheduleSeasonal with some year-round program responsibilities.
