Pay: $18–$20 per billable hour + $60/week mileage allowance + 6 admin hours/week at minimum wage

Position Overview
We are hiring a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our Community Support Team (CST). This is a field-based, team-oriented role that requires you to meet clients in their homes or communities. You’ll use your lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery to walk alongside clients as they rebuild stability, regain independence, and thrive.
This role plays a vital part in helping individuals navigate resources, build coping skills, manage daily life, and stay engaged in their recovery plan—while also supporting the CST team with ongoing service coordination.
What You’ll Do
Build trusted relationships with clients through consistent community visits
Use your personal recovery journey to inspire hope and teach coping strategies
Support clients in building independent living skills, navigating services, and achieving personal goals
Deliver services aligned with Clinical Coverage Policy 8G and the client’s Person-Centered Plan (PCP)
Participate in team meetings, share progress updates, and support crisis planning and response
Assist with client outreach, follow-ups, and community integration efforts
Model healthy social interactions and decision-making skills
Educate clients on their legal rights and support them in self-advocacy
Respond to emerging client needs and provide emotional and recovery-focused support
Key Requirements
NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) certification required
High School Diploma or GED required
At least 1 year of experience working with adults with SPMI or co-occurring disorders preferred
Reliable transportation required – field-based travel across counties is essential
Ability to conduct in-person, face-to-face visits
Comfortable working non-traditional hours based on client and team needs
Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills
Must be flexible, empathetic, and committed to recovery principles
Schedule & Compensation
Field-based: Must travel across Robeson, Bladen, Columbus, and Brunswick Counties
$18–$20/hour per billable session
$60/week mileage allowance
6 administrative hours/week at state minimum wage (meetings, trainings)
Participation in weekly team meetings and rotating on-call phone coverage required
