Senior Building Automation Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineer to join our client's growing team in Ashburn, VA. This role will lead the design, engineering, implementation, and commissioning of advanced BAS and HVAC controls projects across mission-critical, commercial, and data center environments. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, leadership capability, and a strong customer-focused mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesLead engineering and execution of Building Automation Systems projects from concept through completionDesign control systems, network architecture, and sequences of operation for HVAC and mechanical systemsDevelop submittals, wiring diagrams, points lists, control schematics, and system graphicsProgram, integrate, and troubleshoot BAS platforms and field devicesProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and field techniciansCoordinate with project managers, contractors, vendors, and end users to ensure successful project deliverySupport commissioning activities, system startup, functional testing, and owner trainingReview project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with customer and industry standardsOptimize system performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliabilityAssist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk managementRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical field preferred5+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems or HVAC controls engineeringStrong experience with BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell or DistechAdvanced knowledge of HVAC systems, control theory, networking, and integration protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorksExperience programming and commissioning BAS controllers and supervisory systems
