With nearly 60 years of expertise, IDE is committed to delivering innovative technology, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and exceeding expectations.IDE Americas (a subsidiary of IDE Technologies) is hiring a Plant Controller to serve as the primary finance leader on site for a newly established desalination plant in Fort Lauderdale. This role is ideal for a controller who enjoys building finance operations from the ground up, working closely with plant leadership, and operating with a high degree of independence. The Plant Controller reports to the Director of Finance, who is based in California.Key Responsibilities:Serve as the primary finance and accounting lead for the plant, with full ownership of all site-level financial activities.Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including analyses, schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, and accurate financial reporting.Prepare monthly reporting packages for plant and operating leadership and quarterly reporting for senior management and the parent company.Lead preparation of the annual operating budget, forecasts, and revisions; deliver budget-to-actual analyses and variance explanations.Analyze ongoing operating, maintenance, and labor costs, providing actionable insights to support plant management decision-making.Coordinate and support year-end audits, including engagement with external auditors and preparation of reviewed and audited financial statements.Ensure all transactions and reporting comply with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards (US GAAP; IFRS support).Develop, maintain, and enforce a robust system of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.Prepare and oversee complex monthly customer billings, serving as the local expert on Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contracts.Lead ERP ownership and process improvement, driving data accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.Review and approve cash disbursements and payroll; ensure timely and compliant sales/use tax filings and accurate fixed-asset records.Communicate and present critical financial matters to plant leadership, corporate finance, and the parent company, and support ad-hoc financial projects as required.Qualifications & Requirements:CPA5 – 8 years of progressive accounting / finance experienceBackground in a plant, manufacturing, utility, or infrastructure environmentStrong knowledge of US GAAP (IFRS exposure a plus)Experience owning close, audits, budgeting, and cost controlERP experienceDemonstrated experience owning full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and management reportingProven ability to prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages to senior managementHands-on experience leading annual operating budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance analysisStrong experience analyzing operating, maintenance, and labor costs in a plant or industrial environmentExperience coordinating and supporting external audits, including preparation of schedules and interaction with outside auditorsSolid understanding of internal controls, accounting policies, and financial compliance requirementsDemonstrated ability to operate independently as the senior finance lead in a site-based environmentComfortable working independently with remote managementPreferred:Utilities, power, water, or desalination experienceMunicipal or government contract exposureExperience working with a foreign parent companyPayroll and sales/use tax exposurePersonal Attributes:Highly self-directed and comfortable operating independently in a new-plant environmentStrong communicator with the ability to collaborate across cultures, functions, and time zonesHands-on leader with a continuous improvement mindsetStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detailProfessional, accountable, and committed to high-quality workAble to manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Demands:Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 poundsAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to bend, kneel, crouch, and utilize standard office equipmentManual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and related office equipmentAbility to read computer screens and documents with or without corrective lensesEnvironmental Conditions: Primary work environment is an office settingPeriodic presence in plant operations areas is requiredPotential exposure to noise, heat, dust, salt and fresh waterOccasional exposure to uneven or slippery surfaces and working at heightsPossible exposure to chemicals, electrical systems, and heavy machinery, with appropriate safety controls in placeEqual Employment Opportunity:IDE Americas is an equal opportunity employer.
