Driver Instructor

*Work location: 22023 Job Corps Pl, Nemo, SD 57759* *Work Schedule: 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday -Friday* *Job Overview* Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area. Participates in the Center Behavioral Management System (BMS)and/or the Student Code of Conduct (SCC) program as necessary to ensure proper workplace conduct, appearance and behavior. Sets a positive example as a role model to students by displaying appropriate etiquette, timeliness, and dress. *Duties and Responsibilities* * Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation. * Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting to ensure maximum learning. * Instructs on the Driver’s Education curriculum in accordance with the Job Corps requirements and program specifications. * Counsels and motivates students regarding behavior, training, personal and/or study habits and problems. * Develops and prepares supplemental lessons and recommends curricula changes. * Individualizes the Driver’s Education curriculum to fit the students’ experiences. · Studies, plans, organizes, develops, and implements the assigned subjects independently using the Job Corps manual and center operating procedures as a guide and develops individual classroom operating procedures and specific directives for classroom maintenance in conjunction with Job Corps regulations. · Maintains required records in accordance with applicable regulations, which include progress reports and accountability reports. · Provides constructive criticism, advice and guidance to students in a professional manner, taking into consideration the age and abilities of the student. * Responsible for ensuring that security measures are taken, and equipment and supplies are maintained. · Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations. · Maintains classroom environment (behavior and surroundings) conducive to learning. · Attends required staff training sessions. * Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility. * Cultivate and maintain a climate on center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn. _The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by a person in this position. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties that may be performed in such a position._ *Education and Experience Requirements: * · High School Diploma, associate degree preferred. · Appropriate certification/license in state of employment or equivalent. Professional license/ accreditation by professional trade organization is required. If candidate is not state certified, he/she must have practical experience in subject/trade. · Prefer extensive practical knowledge of trade and teaching experience. · Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record.
