Control Systems Technician

Control Systems TechnicianJob SummaryOversee and maintain complex automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment. This role involves managing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems, and sensors to ensure optimal operation, safety, and efficiency.DutiesMaintain and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, and distributed control systems to ensure seamless operation across manufacturing processes.Perform calibration and testing of sensors, vision inspection systems, and precision measuring instruments to uphold quality standards.Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts using AutoCAD and other design tools for system upgrades or repairs.Conduct preventive maintenance on high voltage and low voltage electrical components, ensuring compliance with safety standards.Ensure spare PLC and HIM Systems are functional.Observe equipment and machines and make recommendations to optimize production.Support field service activities including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems at various plant locations.Collaborate with engineering teams to develop system modifications or improvements using software platforms.Assist with instrumentation.Assist in the training of maintenance staff or operators. This is to include control system operation and troubleshooting techniques.Provide exceptional customer service by addressing system issues promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.Document system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities accurately for compliance and future reference.RequirementsProven experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, calibration procedures, schematics interpretation, and industrial maintenance.Strong electrical background with knowledge of high voltage and low voltage systems; experience as an industrial electrician is preferred.Mechanical knowledge relevant to manufacturing equipment maintenance.Hands-on systems experience, calibration tools such as ohmmeters, and precision measuring instruments.Knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS), SCADA platforms, sensors integration, and field service operations.Familiarity with safety standards related to high voltage electrical work.Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation.Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to maintaining the integrity of control systems while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.Do what is needed to get the plant running, if down and ensure continuous running including, but not limited to, taking calls away from the plant, being called out, and working nights or weekends.
