This role is critical in ensuring utility installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.We are looking for a leader who is hungry, humble, and smart—someone who takes ownership, builds strong teams, and ensures the job gets done regardless of challenges.Responsibilities:Lead and oversee all field operations related to underground dry utilitiesEnsure health and safety is always the top priority on every job siteHold General Foremen and Foremen accountable for productivity, quality, and performanceStep in to ensure project success when issues arise or when supervision gaps occurPlan, schedule, and coordinate work, trades, and resources at least 6 weeks in advanceCoordinate effectively with General Contractors, clients, and project stakeholdersOversee installation of underground utilities including conduit, duct banks, and related infrastructureMonitor daily production, progress, and job performance to keep projects on trackRead and interpret project drawings and specifications to ensure accurate executionEnsure proper layout, trenching, and installation practices are followedCommunicate proactively with leadership when challenges or delays occurFoster a strong team environment built on accountability, collaboration, and trustMentor and develop field personnel, building strong and capable crewsRequirements:Minimum 2 years' experience as an underground utilities laborerMinimum 3 years' experience as an operator in the underground utilities industryMinimum 3 years' experience as an Underground ForemanMinimum 4 years' experience as an Underground SuperintendentProven experience with utility-scale underground projects and/or substation work (preferred)Strong knowledge of underground utility practices and field executionHands-on experience operating underground utility equipmentProven layout knowledge and ability to ensure accurate field executionAbility to read and understand construction drawings and specificationsDemonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate complex projectsProven track record of building and developing teamsStrong communication skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriatelyTeam-first mindset with a focus on collaboration and shared successSelf-driven, accountable, and willing to put in the effort required to get the job doneWilling and able to travel and work extended hours as neededAble to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving recordBenefits:Paid Time Off (PTO) / Sick LeaveMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (coverage for the entire family)401(k) with company match5-Year Employment Appreciation BonusWork Schedule:Monday to Friday, with flexibility as required by project needsReady to Join Our Team?If you're ready to bring your leadership, grit, and underground utility expertise to a company that values accountability, teamwork, and excellence, apply today and be part of a team that takes pride in every project we deliver!R-2 Contractors is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
