Location: Lynwood, CAShift : 2pm- 10:30pm (weekends and overtime as needed)Role: Temp to hire Salary Range: 18.36 - 24.67Essential Functions Statement(s)Monitor the performance of all equipment, gauges, and charts in the treatment plant and pump stations; Replace equipment when necessaryOperate, maintain and repair malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant Maintain, modify or repair instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flow meter, and other water quality monitoring equipmentCalibrate, clean and ensure proper function of pH and ORP probes and controllersOperate and maintain rise pump stationsClean wet wells and operate pumps and valves to control and adjust flow and treatment processSetup hazardous waste cubic yard storage containers with proper labelingOperate sludge pump and filter pressCollect, segregate, and transport hazardous waste from generation points to the hazardous waste storage areaLabel and sign appropriate hazardous and chemical reactantsInspect facility where hazardous waste is stored and evaluate compliance; track accumulation start dates of satellite storage containersCompile and maintain list of hazardous waste needing disposal and organize the waste for transport and disposalReview hazardous waste manifests and accompanying land disposal restriction notification forms for complianceRespond to hazardous waste spills in emergency situationsResponsible for chemical process tank additions, make ups and remakesAssist in other duties as needed to ensure environmental compliance throughout the chemical processing facilityCompetency Statement(s) • Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.• Active Listening - Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.• Applied Learning - Ability to participate in needed learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience.• Conceptual Thinking - Ability to think in terms of abstract ideas.• Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.• Conflict Resolution - Ability to deal with others in an antagonistic situation.• Deductive Reasoning - Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.• Ethical - Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards.• Honesty / Integrity - Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.• Judgment - The ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information.• Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.• Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy.• Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one's conduct.• Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.• Self Motivated - Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of ones ability using his or her own drive or initiativeSkills and AbilitiesEducation:High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): RequiredExperience:2 plus years of experience in waste treatment and hazardous wasteOther Physical Requirements• Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth)• Sense of Sound - Able to hear in normal audio range• Sense of Smell• Sense of Touch• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - All required PPEWORK ENVIRONMENTThe position involves working with and around hazardous chemicals, paints and solvents.
