Job Summary: The receptionist is the first impression of the practice. The primary duty is to act as a liaison between the physician and the patient. In this capacity, the receptionist greets patients, registers them, schedules appointments along with other duties. The receptionist plays a role in patient accounting.Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.Responsibilities·        Maintains front desk in an organized, orderly fashion·        Answers telephone promptly·        Routes calls to appropriate area·        Takes accurate messages in accordance with message policy·        Manages patient reminder calls·        Greets patients and visitors in a pleasant manner·        Maintains statistics on patient volumes and other information as requested·        Sets up new patient accounts·        Schedules patients·        Schedules follow-up appointments as needed·        Reschedules appointments for blocked schedules·        Maintains updated patient information including, but not limited to: demographics, HIPPA, NCS greement and insurance in the system at least annually·        Checks patients in/out in the computer·        Scans insurance cards and other paperwork·        Collects all copays, deductibles and balances·        Explains fees, services, and office payment policy·        Balances end of day·        Processes medical records ·        Reviews upcoming schedules and bring any issues to the attention of the Practice Manager·        Updates and maintains reference sheets with pricing, allowables, etc.·        Pulls charts for faxes, filing paperwork into charts, filing charts back·        Checks voice mails, emails and faxes and manage according to office policy·        Monitors patient toys- orders and distributes·        Monitors and orders office supplies, appointment cards, etc.·        Ability to work Check in and check out positions·        Supportive team member·        Other duties and responsibilities as requiredMinimum Qualifications: The receptionist must be a high school graduate. She/he must have mathematical aptitude and be able to adapt to medical software programs, credit card machine, copiers, office equipment, etc. The receptionist must be able to deal with multiple incoming calls and relay accurate and legible messages.
