HVAC Service Technician

Job Description Salary:Job Summary:This position is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC systems while delivering highquality customer service. Successful candidates will work independently in the field, manage assigned calls efficiently, and contribute positively to team performance and company growth.Essential Functions:HVAC Service & RepairDiagnose and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including: Rooftop units (RTUs)Split and packaged systemsChillers (aircooled and/or watercooled)Boilers and hydronic systemsMakeup air unitsVAV systems and related terminal devicesPerform advanced electrical troubleshooting on motors, contactors, relays, VFDs, and control circuitsIdentify equipment deficiencies and recommend repair or replacement options to customersPreventative Maintenance & System PerformancePerform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) per company standardsInspect and service filters, belts, bearings, coils, refrigerant circuits, electrical components, and safetiesIdentify energy efficiency improvements and operational upgradesCustomer Interaction & DocumentationCommunicate professionally with customers regarding findings, recommendations, and repair optionsBuild longterm customer relationships through reliability and technical expertiseAccurately complete service tickets, inspection forms, and digital documentationWork closely with dispatch, service management, and parts departmentsSafety & Professional StandardsFollow all company and OSHA safety requirementsUtilize proper PPE and follow lockout/tagout proceduresMaintain a clean, organized service vehicle and jobsiteScheduling & Work EnvironmentParticipate in scheduled oncall rotation (afterhours and emergency service)Manage workload efficiently to meet customer and company expectationsTravel to customer sites throughout the service areaRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or GED (technical school or apprenticeship preferred)37+ years commercial or industrial HVAC service experienceStrong refrigeration, airflow, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionValid drivers license and acceptable driving recordEPA Section 608 Universal CertificationAbility to lift and carry up to 50lbsAbility to climb ladders and work on rooftopsAbility to work indoors/outdoors in variable weather conditionsTroubleshoot and adjust HVAC control systemsRead and interpret: Wiring diagramsSchematicsEquipment sequences of operationCalibrate sensors, thermostats, and safety devicesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with chillers, boilers, or large tonnage systemsBAS / DDC controls experienceManufacturer training and certifications Boiler and/or Chiller highlightedExperience mentoring junior techniciansOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
