Description And FunctionsOpen Until FilledGeneral DescriptionJoin the Wyoming State Fair Team as a fulltime Facility Maintenance & Operations Support Team Member.The Wyoming State Fairgrounds and Event Complex is seeking an energetic, dependable, and motivated individual to support the year-round operations of one of Wyoming’s largest public event facilities. Spanning 137 acres and more than 60 structures, the Wyoming State Fairgrounds hosts over 400 event days annually in addition to the annual Wyoming State Fair.This position plays a vital role in maintaining facility readiness, supporting events, and preserving State assets through preventative and routine maintenance. Responsibilities include venue setup and teardown, janitorial support, event preparation, groundskeeping, and assisting with maintenance projects across the campus.This role directly supports the success of the annual Wyoming State Fair and a wide variety of interim events including livestock shows, rodeos, banquets, weddings, trade shows, conventions, concerts, community events, and more.Due to the event-driven nature of the Wyoming State Fairgrounds and Event Complex, evenings, overtime, weekends, holidays, and extended hours may be required throughout the year.Working for the State of Wyoming offers more than a paycheck. Explore our Total Compensation Calculator: https://compensationcalculator.wyo.govHuman Resource Contact: Madison Hoagland/ Madison.hoagland@wyo.gov/ 307-777-6036ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.Prepares venues for events on a year-round basis, including equine events, public and private rentals, banquets, fundraisers, livestock events, weddings, and community gatherings.Assists with event setup and teardown including moving tables, chairs, staging, livestock panels, bleachers, barriers, and other event equipment.Performs janitorial services and sanitation duties to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and guest-ready.Assists with preventative and general maintenance across the 137-acre campus and 60 structures located on the property.Supports fair time operations including layout preparation, barn setup, special projects, maintenance response, and fair teardown.Performs groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, weed control, irrigation maintenance, snow removal, and seasonal cleanup.Operates heavy and light equipment including tractors, skid steers, forklifts, lawn equipment, ATVs, utility vehicles, and other maintenance equipment.Assists with plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical maintenance, and general repairs as assigned.Performs regular building inspections and reports maintenance concerns.Assists in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for guests, exhibitors, staff, and event participants.Attend training and meetings as required.QualificationsPREFERENCES: Basic understanding of routine and preventative maintenance preferred. Experience with event setup, custodial work, groundskeeping, or facility operations preferred. Ability to operate or willingness to learn operation of maintenance and grounds equipment. Experience working in customer service-oriented environments preferred.Preference may be given to the applicant with a current CDL license, but is not mandatory.Must be 18 years of age or older in order to operate any and all equipment which includes the operation of all power-driven machines.Must hold a valid Wyoming driver's license.KnowledgeKnowledge of state and facility policies and procedures.
