Process EngineerJob SummaryThe Process Engineer will provide process design and engineering support for industrial and manufacturing projects across all phases of execution—from conceptual development through detailed design, construction, and commissioning. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and suppliers to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective process solutions.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform process design calculations, including heat and material balances, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizingDevelop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDS)Define process design criteria and develop data for pump, instrument, and line sizingPrepare process equipment specifications for vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and related systemsCoordinate with equipment suppliers to obtain technical information, cost data, and schedulesSupport equipment layout development and multidisciplinary coordinationPrepare and evaluate vendor bids and technical bid tabulationsPerform process safety evaluations, including relief device sizing and compliance assessmentsProvide technical input to proposal development, conceptual design, and cost estimatingSupport project execution through coordination with other engineering disciplinesInterface with clients to define project scope, technical requirements, and execution constraintsProvide technical support during construction, installation, and field activitiesDevelop or support standard operating procedures (SOPs) and scopes of work as requiredEnsure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, environmental, and safety regulationsIdentify and resolve process design issues through sound engineering judgmentRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering7+ years of experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process facilitiesActive Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of AlabamaDemonstrated experience supporting projects in a consulting or EPC environmentStrong working knowledge of process engineering principles and industry standardsPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in engineeringExperience in steel, metallurgical, or heavy manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with ASME B31.3 Process PipingProficiency with process and piping analysis software such as Pipe-Flo®, CAESAR II®, or equivalent toolsExperience using AutoCAD, Revit, Mathcad, or similar engineering applicationsExperience preparing project budgets, estimates, and proposalsAbility to coach and mentor early-career engineersWork Environment & ExpectationsOffice and industrial field environmentsPeriodic site visits and field support as requiredCollaboration with multidisciplinary project teams
