Job Title: General Industrial MechanicLocation: West Chicago, IllinoisCompany: Precast Concrete Manufacturing FacilityPosition SummaryThe General Industrial Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems within a precast concrete manufacturing plant. This role ensures plant machinery operates safely and efficiently to support continuous production. The position includes preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, fabrication, and emergency response to equipment breakdowns.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine preventive maintenance on production equipmentDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systemsMaintain mixers, batch plants, conveyors, vibration tables, molds, and curing systemsTroubleshoot motor, gearbox, bearing, and drive system issuesReplace worn components including belts, chains, sprockets, seals, and bearingsPerform welding, cutting, and light fabrication as neededMaintain air systems, compressors, and plant utilitiesRespond quickly to production breakdowns to minimize downtimeInspect equipment regularly and recommend repairs or upgradesMaintain maintenance logs and service documentationFollow all safety policies and OSHA standardsEquipment Typically ServicedConcrete batch plant and mixersConveyors and material handling systemsVibration tables and compaction equipmentHydraulic and pneumatic systemsOverhead cranes and hoistsAir compressors and plant utility systemsForklifts (propane and diesel)Small gas-powered equipmentQualifications3+ years of industrial maintenance experienceStrong mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy manufacturingWorking knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systemsBasic electrical troubleshooting ability (motors, relays, controls)Welding and fabrication experience preferredAbility to read mechanical drawings and equipment manualsMust be relatively familiar with forklift propane engines, diesel engines, and gasoline enginesAbility to work independently and prioritize tasksSkillsStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilityPreventive maintenance mindsetOrganized and detail-orientedAbility to work in a fast-paced production environmentEffective communication with supervisors and production teamsWork EnvironmentIndustrial precast concrete plantExposure to dust, noise, moving machinery, and varying temperaturesPhysical work including lifting, climbing, bending, and working at heightsCompensationCompetitive hourly pay based on experienceOvertime opportunitiesBenefits package (health insurance, PTO, etc.)This position is essential to maintaining production efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall plant safety.Company DescriptionFounded in 1989, ACS is a leading manufacturer serving the precast concrete and cast stone markets across the Midwest, East Coast, and Middle South.
