COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our client is an industrial site-civil construction firm developing innovative solutions to help clients’ plans become reality.POSITION TITLE: EstimatorCOMPENSATION: Competitive Salary + DOEBENEFITS: Standard packageLOCATION: Baton Rouge, LASUMMARY: The role of the Estimator is to work among Business Development, Project Management and Construction teams to prepare estimates, schedules, technical execution plans, proposals, and other client required materials to complete a project based on the provided plans, drawings and other specificationsDuties Or ResponsibilitiesAssist Business Development Team, as needed, in preparation of proposals for new business and presentations to clientsStudy and understand the contract documents of each project before, as well as after estimating to determine areas, including provisions of the general or special conditions, plans, schedule, and specificationsPerform value engineering and value enhancement efforts as required to serve the client including development of items and lists, compilation of ideas and presentation of information to the clientPerform accurate estimating of projects assigned to bidAttend pre-bid meetings and post bid meetings as requiredCompany liaison with Owner, Architect, and Engineer during estimating and bidding phasesCoordinates with Project Manager to assure that a preliminary construction schedule and budget have been developed based upon each estimateAssist during the preconstruction strategy meeting as it pertains to project budgeting Work with Project Manager to estimate and submit timely change proposals to the design agent or ownerMaintain an up-to-date file or library of material suppliers, current labor laws, equipment rental rates, and qualified subcontractors by categoryAnalyzing subcontractor and vendor quotes to confirm scope pricingPreparing conceptual estimates and budgets for projects to include analysis points for internal discussionUpdating unit, labor, material, and equipment rates in cost databases for software such as HCSSDeveloping subcontractor relationships for the solicitation of bids. Complete additional job tasks assigned by managerTravel to project sites when necessaryExperience And Qualifications3+ years’ minimum experience in Construction Industry Estimating software experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is preferredBachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or relevant field of expertiseThorough knowledge of construction forecasting, cost, scheduling and estimatingAbility to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project scheduleKnowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookProficient Technical writing skillsPLEASE NOTE: We try to respond to everyone who applies for our jobs, but in periods of high activity it may not be possible.
