Position SummaryThe Electrical Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role within the Sustaining Engineering team supporting Hologic’s Breast & Skeletal Health product portfolio. This position assists with maintaining and improving released medical devices by supporting troubleshooting, supporting the design, development, verification, and sustaining of electrical and electronic systems and components.Working under close guidance from senior engineers, the Electrical Engineer I applies fundamental engineering principles and established company procedures to resolve routine technical issues. The role focuses on learning Hologic systems, tools, and processes while contributing to sustaining engineering activities that support product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.Key Responsibilities Assist in the design and development of electrical circuits, PCBs, and subsystems under the guidance of senior engineers. Create and update electrical schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and wiring diagrams using approved design tools. Support prototype build activities, including board bring-up, integration, and basic functional testing. Perform laboratory measurements, testing, and data collection using standard electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.). Assist in root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of electrical issues in existing products and prototypes. Support verification and validation testing by executing test procedures and documenting results. Help ensure designs comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and company standards. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test reports, design notes, and engineering change orders (ECOs). Participate in testing, data collection, and analysis to support engineering investigations and validation activities. Follow established engineering processes, company policies, and applicable quality system procedures. Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation. Build and collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, RA/QA) to resolve issues and support product lifecycle activities.Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (including internships or co‑ops). Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuits, and electronic components.Key Skills Basic understanding of analog and/or digital circuit design. Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, or similar). Ability to use standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, power supplies). Basic knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, or FPGA-based designs is a plus. Familiarity with applicable electrical and safety standards (e.g., IEC, UL) is a plus. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and datasheets.Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills.
