Why This Role Matters:We are seeking an energetic Senior Accountant to join the RVI Group, finance team and play a key role in supporting the accounting and financial reporting needs of the business lines, and upstream to the parent company, Group 1001. This position will also interact externally with clients, brokers, vendors, banking partners, investment managers, and independent auditors. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, driven accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous learning.This individual will be responsible for assisting the Finance department with account reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, and financial analysis, while supporting both routine and ad hoc accounting initiatives.In addition to working closely with their supervisor, this individual will collaborate with all members of the Finance team. The Senior Accountant must act with the highest level of integrity and business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.This is a hybrid position at the Stamford, CT office 2 days per week.How You'll Contribute:Participate in monthly, quarterly and annual close processesPrepare and review account reconciliations, analyzing results and variancesPrepare monthly bank reconciliationsMaintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals and depreciationPrepare quarterly fixed asset journal entries and reconciliationsTrack general and specific accruals and prepare related journal entriesPrepare SG&A actual-to-budget reports and provide variance analysisAssist with expense reviews, vendor management and disbursement controlsSupport financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activitiesAssist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accountingSupport quarterly and annual regulatory filings with various state departments of insurance, including the NAIC and the State of DelawarePrepare financial reports and management presentationsCompile, review and analyze financial statementsSupport the migration and implementation of the Workday general ledger systemSupport the migration and implementation of the Adaptive Planning budgeting and forecasting systemSupport ad-hoc projects and perform financial analytical analyses as neededAssist in maintaining and enhancing internal controlsSupport the evaluation, implementation and ongoing maintenance of accounting systemsMaintain accurate and complete accounting recordsProvide guidance and oversight to junior staff or interns, as applicableContribute positively to a culture that promotes teamwork, transparency and professional developmentWhat We're Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredThree to five years relevant accounting experienceAdvanced Excel skills, including the use of conditional formulas, pivot tables, and data visualizationFamiliarity with Insurance Statutory Accounting, general ledger functions, and financial reporting and planning systems is a plus.Prior insurance industry experience preferred, but not requiredStrong organizational and time-management skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including formulas, pivot tables and chartsExperience using Power BI and AI-enabled toolsWorking knowledge of general ledger systems such as SAGE300 and WorkdayFamiliarity with subledger systems such as Concur and Adaptive PlanningDemonstrated ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly and seek clarification when neededProactive mindset with a focus on continuous process improvementAbility to clearly communicate financial information and insightsCapability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlinesEffective team collaboration skills in a fast-paced environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilitiesBenefits Highlights:Employees who meet benefit eligibility guidelines and work 30 hours or more weekly, have the ability to enroll in Group 1001's benefits package.
