COORDINATOR OF TRANSFER ARTICULATION

Responsible for the independent review, evaluation and determination of course equivalencies for traditional, non-traditional and foreign credit for prospective, matriculated and currently enrolled undergraduate students.Description of DutiesCreates and maintains the transfer articulation component in the student system.Determines the initial transferability of courses from other institutions, including foreign and military entities to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.Develops, generates and edits reports to analyze the accuracy of the transfer credit data.Generates on-going requests for the review of transfer courses by academic units.Updates all appropriate data elements or use an escalation process as defined by the working unit.Updates the transfer articulation component and student record based on academic unit decisions.Troubleshoots and implements the resolution of an individual student's problems which may arise during the transfer credit evaluation process.Follows established policies, guidelines and regulations to determine the appropriate department and course level for the incoming credits.Collaborates with the departments across campus on targeted recruitment areas to assess current transfer articulation information, review course catalogs to determine additional course transferability, and update the transfer articulation component of the student information system with new information.Coordinates yearly catalog review for all assigned external institutions. Reviews catalogs to determine what courses are no longer being taught, new courses that have been added and course content changes.Serves as a resource for departmental advisors, students, faculty and staff, to interpret and explain policies, regulations and guidelines related to transfer credit.Supervises the assigned admissions staff and coordinates their daily tasks and schedules.Supports the processing of student applications and documents.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervision ReceivedGeneral supervision from assigned supervisor.Supervision GivenDirect supervision of assigned staff.Required EducationBachelor's degree from an accredited university.Preferred EducationN/ALicenses/CertificationsN/ARequired ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience in admissions, transfer recruitment, records and registration, advising or other academic support services. in a higher education institution.Preferred ExperienceExperience obtained in a higher education setting. Supervisory experience. Familiarity with transfer credit policies and procedures and student information systems.EquipmentUse of standard office equipment.Working ConditionsNeeds to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.OtherAbility to successfully interact with students, faculty and staff.
