Job Title: Purchasing Specialist – Electrical & Mechanical Materials
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting customers by identifying, sourcing, and supplying electrical and mechanical materials for commercial, industrial, and construction projects. This role requires strong product knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and advanced proficiency in Excel to manage quotes, track orders, and support time-sensitive project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, engineers, procurement teams, and end users
Assist customers in selecting appropriate electrical and mechanical products based on project specifications and requirements
Prepare and deliver accurate quotations, including pricing, lead times, and technical details
Utilize Microsoft Excel to track quotes, manage pricing comparisons, maintain order logs, and organize project data
Source materials from manufacturers and distributors to meet customer needs and project deadlines
Process purchase orders, sales orders, and track order status through delivery
Coordinate with logistics and shipping teams to ensure on-time delivery to job sites
Maintain well-organized records of quotes, orders, and communications for multiple ongoing projects
Provide timely updates and proactive communication on order status and potential delays
Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide after-sales support
Work Schedule & Expectations:
Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when required to meet project deadlines
Willingness to work overtime during peak project periods or when urgent customer needs arise
Availability to respond to time-sensitive requests outside of standard business hours as needed
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (tracking, data organization, basic formulas, and reporting)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems
Preferred Skills:
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
Experience working with contractors or project-based sales
Familiarity with industry standards and codes (NEC, ANSI, ASME, etc.)
Strong problem-solving and time management skills
Construction experience
Familiarity of Electrical and Mechanical parts
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
