Sr. Control Systems Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to put your control systems engineering talent to use by developing controllers for hybrid electric and electric vehicles. DCS is seeking a seasoned control systems engineer with experience utilizing model-based software development. This is a full-time hybrid position out of Central Massachusetts. Potential to travel once or twice a year. Essential Job Functions: Define control system architecture, states and modes. Build, model and simulate a vehicle controller in a plant, and program-embedded processor using Matlab-Simulink with Embedded Coder and third party hardware mapping and programming tools. Work with Systems Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and other Firmware Engineers. Test controller hardware in the loop. Debug control software. Serve as a subject matter expert on control algorithm development and mentor junior engineers. Interface with customer and vendors. Perform design verification tests and other tests as required. Support manufacturing and field service to resolve issues that arises. Ability to document design and author Software Design Descriptions. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance. BSEE, BSCS or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university with courses in control systems. 8 years of engineering experience and at least 4 years developing control system software. Circuit Modeling and Simulation experience using Matlab/Simulink and coder tools for embedded programming or similar model-based development tool. Had coursework on C or C++ programming. Experience developing control systems for at least one of these systems: vehicles, aircraft, motor drives, and power electronics. Familiarity with engine control systems, CAN Bus, battery storage system, power management, motor drives, DC-DC converters, transmission, and traction control. Desired Skills: Experienced with third party hardware mapping and programming tools e.g. New Eagle Raptor tools. Experience developing control systems for hybrid electric vehicles or battery electric vehicles. High voltage safety training or knowledge. Signal conditioning. Development for ground vehicle safety environment. Design for military ground vehicle or automotive experience. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other Engineering discipline from an accredited university is preferred.
