Greenhouse Operations SpecialistLocation: Durham, NC (Onsite)Assignment Type: ContractSchedule: Full-time (Weekend and holiday work may be required)----------------------------------------Position OverviewThe Greenhouse Operations Specialist will support daily plant care, cultivation, and seed production activities within a controlled greenhouse environment. This role is hands-on and requires attention to detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high stewardship and operational standards.The ideal candidate will bring greenhouse or plant science experience and a strong commitment to plant health, data accuracy, and research support.----------------------------------------Key Responsibilities- Perform routine greenhouse tasks including hand watering, fertilizing, and general plant maintenance- Conduct plant sampling, transplanting, pollination, and proper disposal of plant materials- Support planting, harvesting, shelling, and seed counting activities- Assist with data collection and plant performance observations- Maintain accurate records using MS Office and internal databases- Adhere to stewardship protocols and safety procedures- Work occasional weekends and holidays as operational needs require----------------------------------------Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related fieldOR- Associate degree with 2+ years of experience in plant biology or greenhouse operations- Prior greenhouse experience preferred- Ability to perform physical greenhouse duties, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in varying environmental conditions- Strong attention to detail and observational skills- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems- Strong communication and teamwork skillsBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
