AFSI, located in Allen, Texas, has and will continue to base its strategy on technical and application support, quality assurance, product performance and value.General Description: The Drafting Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of Cable Assembly Drafting team in the preparation and revision of cable harness/ detail drawings for fiber optic cable assemblies. This role ensures the team delivers high-quality, accurate technical drawings on schedule while collaborating closely with component engineering, sales, manufacturing, and quality teams. The supervisor drives team performance, continuous improvement, and adherence to company/industry standards and customer requirements.Essential Functions:Lead and supervise the daily activities of the Cable Assembly Drafting teamEnsure the team is focused on priorities per the drawing/change notice scheduleDetermine and monitor team capacity required to meet the schedule and adjust resources as neededEnsure the team has the necessary tools, training, and support to execute activities in an accurate and timely mannerPromote team and continuous improvement initiatives across the drafting team and the companyUse a data driven approach to determine process improvements and monitoring progressOversee the preparation of layouts, assembly, and detail drawings for fiber optic cable assemblies based on inputs from Sales and internal stakeholdersWork with component engineering to obtain and maintain accurate internal template libraries for cable assembly componentsRoute drawings for review, ensure proper sign-off, and submit for final release in accordance with company proceduresAnalyze various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or alternate constructions when appropriateAlign drawings with corresponding bills of materials (BOMs)Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve drawing or design-related issuesParticipate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability, compliance, and accuracyEnsure adherence to internal/external drafting standardsSupport the development and improvement of drafting templates and documentation processesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to read (write and speak in English) and interpret assembly drawings/specifications from internal and external sources.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blue prints.Proficient in AutoCAD/Visio, Solidworks (preferred) or equivalent 3D modeling softwareProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Detail oriented.Strong understanding of best practices in customer service.Strong team player.Required Education and Experience:Associate's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required (Bachelor's preferred)3 - 5 years' experience in a related fieldU.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements
