Executive DirectorThe Democratic Party of the battleground state of Arizona is seeking an Executive Director. In partnership with the Chair, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategy, activities, management, and growth of the party. This specifically includes, but is not limited to, election-based activities; fundraising; budgeting; staff recruitment and retention; communications; outreach; and building party infrastructure.The starting salary for the Executive Director is $125,000, negotiable based on experience. This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position in Phoenix that will often require work in the evenings, on holidays, and over weekends.This position will have a particular focus on fundraising, with the support of an experienced Finance staff.This position has a wide range of responsibilities, serving as a trusted advisor to and strategic asset for the state party chair, elected and party officials, candidates, and leaders across the state.Responsibilities Include:Serve as chief strategist and tactician for the Arizona Democratic PartyImplement the vision and processes of the Chair and leadership effectivelyDirectly manage leadership team and oversee communications / digital, finance, voter protection, outreach, data, operations, compliance, and other staff both broad goals and daily execution, performance, hiring and firing, and all other day-to-day staffing responsibilitiesManage the development and oversight of political and campaign strategyBuilds and nurtures relationships with in-state elected officials and stakeholders, as well as national committees and organizations with which the party is permitted to coordinateMaintain a working knowledge of campaign finance, election, and compliance laws, working closely with the designated compliance firm and legal counsel to ensure all party activities are compliant and reports are filed with accuracy and timelinessServe as a spokesperson for the Arizona Democratic Party as neededFundraising:Write and execute a comprehensive finance plan, securing buy-in from elected leaders, partners, and other alliesEnsures cash flow and budgetary projections are met, while creatively developing other revenue streamsEnsure Chair and other party officer call time is effective, including their own call timePrepare Chair and other party officers for pitch meetings, including preparing materials and briefing the principals; attend as requestedCollaborate on targeting and messaging for fundraising materialsServe as a resource for county parties, officers and staff, and candidates about fundraising strategy and the basics of reportingRequirements:At least 8 years of political experience, including at least 4 years of Executive leadership in a state and/or national campaign / committeeStrong abilities in organizational planning for strategy and program, including developing organizational strategic plans, campaign plans, and finance plansExtensive team management skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve high levels of performance and outcomesConflict and crisis management experience with a proven ability to make decisions and lead with integrity, integrating the input of appropriate stakeholdersExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build relationshipsClear, effective, high-quality communicator both verbally and in writingHighly responsive to internal and external requests, within reasonExceptional time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlinesFamiliarity with multi-million-dollar budgets, complex tracking systems, and campaign finance lawsDemonstrated fundraising success, and an understanding of fundraising channelsFamiliar with a full complement of office tools, including Microsoft and Google suites, zoom, and NGP VANReliable transportation and the ability to travel extensively throughout the state and nationally, often for several days at a timePreferred, not required:Media experienceSpanish language fluency (strongly preferred)Arizona campaign or other political experienceExisting Arizona or national donor networksPersonal characteristics:Resilient, resourceful, and able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and other changes both big and smallRealistic but positive in outlook, not ego- or turf-driven able to focus on opportunities when faced with challengesCollaborative by nature, able to unite a team behind a mission to execute a planCommitted to the values and practices of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, with the ability to take feedback and learnFully invested in the success of Arizona Democrats
