NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.Reports to: Principal/Building Assistant PrincipalsGeneral Summary:The K-12 Dyslexia Teacher ensures that all students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, independent, and responsible citizens in today's society.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons consistent to and aligned with district curricula.• Possess and deploy various instructional strategies in order to meet different learning styles as well as specific needs of students assigned to him or her.• Stay abreast of changes in standards, curriculum documents, resources, and trends in education.• Utilize and integrate appropriately student use of technology in the classroom.• Assess, record, and report the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of all students.• Embrace an attitude of being a continual learner, facilitator of learning, and a reflective practitioner.• Utilize effective classroom management techniques to provide a safe learning environment for all students.• Communicate regularly with parents and/or guardians about student progress, behavior, or needs.• Be an active participant in collaborative planning, intervention, conferences, meetings, and assistance teams both at the building and district levels when appropriate.• Use a variety of assessment tools to assess and gauge student progress, identify student needs, and extend learning.• Maintain proper and correct records and all timelines according to district, state and federal requirements in regard to student grades, attendance, and IEP progress if applicable.• Ensure fairness and impartiality in all matters relating to students.• Provide supervision for students at all times when students are assigned or entrusted in one's care.• Engage in professional development to strengthen personal practice.• Develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships.Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.* The statements outlined in the position description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Teachers with experience are valued; however, no prior experience is required.• Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students• Experience working in a rural setting• Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred• Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution• Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skillsHours of Work and Working ConditionsPer ContractPhysical DemandsMust be able to sit for extended periods of time.Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on the computer and/or related office equipment.Occasionally required to drive to other location
