The RoleWe are looking for a hands-on Controller who understands the nuances of:Project-based accountingRevenue recognition (percentage-of-completion, accrual)Utilization & realization metricsWIP managementLabor multiplier modelingAEC-specific P&L structures This role is not just oversight — it is implementation. We need someone who can:Assess our current financial structureIdentify best practicesClean up and optimize our booksImplement scalable financial systemsPrepare us for continued growth Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & CleanupReview and clean up general ledger structureEnsure proper project-based accountingAlign revenue recognition with AEC best practicesImprove WIP tracking and backlog reportingStandardize chart of accounts Reporting & StructureRedesign and implement best-practice AEC P&L formatDevelop project-level profitability reportingImplement utilization, realization, and margin trackingImprove monthly close processProduce leadership-level dashboards Strategic Finance SupportImprove financials visibility and margin trackingDevelop forecasting model tied to hiring and backlogEstablish best-practice financial controlsSupport leadership with strategic financial insights Systems & ProcessOptimize accounting systems (Zoho, etc.)Recommend improvements or scalable upgrades if neededImplement SOPs for invoicing, AR/AP, and payroll coordination Qualifications8+ years accounting experience, required experience within AEC, engineering, construction management, or professional servicesStrong understanding of project-based accountingDeep familiarity with AEC KPIs (utilization, net service revenue, multiplier, backlog, WIP)Experience cleaning up and restructuring accounting systemsComfortable operating in high-growth environmentsCPA preferred but not requiredIf you are a results-driven, analytical thinker with a passion for ensuring successful project delivery, then we want to hear from you.
