Bilingual Aide
Reports to: Campus Principal and Assigned Teacher(s)Wage/Hour Status: NonexemptPay Family: Clerical/ParaprofessionalPay Grade: 02Minimum Hourly Salary: $16.40Duty Days: 187 days per yearPrimary Purpose:Assists teacher in preparing and managing classroom activities and administrative requirements in a bilingual classroom. Works under the supervision of a certified bilingual teacher.Qualifications:Education* High school diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a rigorous content-oriented examor* Associate degree or 48 semester hours of college creditCertification* Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtainExperience* Some experience working with children and young adultsSpecial Knowledge and SkillsAbility to work well with childrenAbility to communicate effectively on an academic level in both English and Spanish languagesAbility to exercise good judgment in handling confidential informationExcellent organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skillsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional SupportAssists teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assists with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Helps maintain a neat and orderly classroom.Helps with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Helps teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student ManagementConducts instructional exercises the teacher assigns and works with individual students or small groups.Helps supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
