Boos & Associates is recognized for the 8th consecutive year as one of the Fastest Growing Companies in the Central San Joaquin Valley.We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to be at the center of our business needs in our Long Beach CA office.If you're ready to serve clients, grow professionally, help expand our firm, and lead others, consider applying.What you will do:The Core Tax Services ("CTS") Experienced Manager - ASC740 is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex corporate tax and ASC 740 tax issues. In this role, the Core Tax Services Experienced Manager is charged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues and recognizing and communicating potential risks and potential changes in the tax policyTax ComplianceEnsures that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BOOS Tax Quality Manual ("TQM")Conducts top level review of T/R and resolves all tax issues with client; involves specialists where appropriateCommunicates with client and Assurance any issues identified in tax accrual reviewsPlans and reviews the tax process and the procedures to be performed to include:Budgeting and staffingMonitoring engagement process and actual time incurred vs. budget with assistance of SeniorTimely billing including management of identified out-of-scope activity and communication to clientTimely collection of A/RManages client relationships/expectations in accordance with the projectProvides advice to clients in a timely manner ResearchIdentifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysisIdentifies complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research processesTrains managers/staff on research skills and helps to appropriately frame ASC 740 tax issues for analysisInvolves firm specialists, as appropriateTax ConsultingAssists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxesConsiders the applicability of CTS and STS consulting specialties for each clientDevelops and implements a work plan to include/organize the STS assistance on ongoing projects from clientServes as a technical resourceEnsures client service teams comply with Firm policy; regarding Written Tax Advice ("WTA"),Provides effective assistance with exam supportFrames projects and issues for effective delegation to seniors and associatesTax SpecializationDevelops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation, e.g., individual, corporate, property, sales, corporate, pass-through, state and local, international, expatriate, transfer pricing, credits and incentives, compensation and benefits, accounting methods, R&D tax benefitsMay be required to organize and conduct effective internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialistsMay train and mentor managers/ seniors/associates on ASC 740Strategy DevelopmentIntroduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefitsConsistently makes suggestions as to how previous work products or approaches can be improvedMay lead marketing campaigns, if applicable to rolePresents complex strategies to clients and prospective clientsCollaborates with the Firm's National Tax and Specialized Tax Services to deliver high-quality deliverables and/or analyses on ASC 740Other duties as requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises associates and senior associates on all projectsReviews work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review commentsTrains Associates and Seniors how to use all current software toolsActs as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associatesSchedules and manages workload of associates and senior associatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associatesEducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Bachelors degree in Accounting or Taxation, requiredMasters degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferredExperienceSix (6) or more years of prior experience, requiredExperience in managing the process of preparing and auditing ASC740 computations for both privately held and publicly traded clients, requiredPrior supervisory experience, requiredMultinational client experience, preferredLicense/CertificationsCPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("CE") (or the equivalent of one of these designations), requiredSoftwareExperience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat, preferredExperience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA Proficient in all tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesSuperior verbal and written communication skillsAbility to effectively delegate work as neededStrong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skillsAbility to work well in a team environmentAble to develop and manage a team of tax professionalsAbility to compose written tax adviceAbility to effectively develop and maintain client relationshipsExecutive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clientsCompensation Information: Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.More About Boos & Associates, a Professional Corporation is a Certified Public Accountant and Consulting firm established in February 2004.
