Mechanical Plumbing Foreman
Description:The Mechanical Plumbing Foreman reports directly to the Plumbing Superintendent and is responsible for the planning, crew development, safety, material management and quality control of the plumbing discipline. The incumbent oversees the work of subordinates and interacts with site journeyman and apprentices to ensure quality, efficiency, safety, and compliance with both federal, state, local, client and company safety regulations.Work Location: Wasilla, AlaskaWorkplace Benefits: Medical Insurance (Individual and Family) Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k with Company Match Accidental Death and Dismemberment (Voluntary) Life Insurance Employee Assistance Program Essential Job Functions: Liaise and interface to socialize plans with client representatives, company quality control and project management team in a professional manner Assists in craft training with new crew members Creates an efficient, safe, and quality work environment Ability to identify and select piping by size and type according to specifications and state codes Ensure crews are onsite, prepared and equipped to perform their assignments Conducts and leads toolbox safety meetings Conducts regular inspections of crews’ work to ensure consistency, efficiency, safety, and quality Conduct material takeoffs to maintain an orderly install sequence per schedule and plan Prep material for assembly to meet code and schedule for waste, water, drainage, heating, and specialty piping systems Ability to thread, prep, and prepare piping systems using a pipe threading machine Secure mechanical piping and plumbing to fixed structures with the following methods: bolt up, clamps, brackets, and hangars using hand, power tools and machines Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to mechanical systems for indication of leaks as per code and specifications Compare and recognize differences in the types of piping, and plumbing systems during the installation process Reads and understands plans, isometric drawings, arrangement of drawings, plan details, specifications, and blueprints Ability to visualize objects, plans and drawings from a three-dimensional view for installation purposes Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department Solder, thread, press and bolt piping systems as required per specification and code Knowledge with pipe fusing process and procedures Knowledge with material verification regarding water, waste, and heating systems Other duties as assigned Required Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent requiredWork Experience: Three (5) years’ experience as a journeyman plumber License/Certifications: Current and valid driver’s license, with clean driving record State of Alaska Journeyman Plumbing License required Municipality of Anchorage Journeyman Plumbing License, or able to obtain within a 6-month period if required to work in Anchorage Post Job Offer Requirements: Take and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check Take and pass a Fit-for-Duty Examination Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Knowledge plumbing and heating code requirementsDemonstrated ability in supervising and leading others Ability to do material takeoffs, figure layout and installation per code Ability to read and understand plans, isometrics, drawings, specifications and/or blueprints Basic understanding of rigging to move mechanical piping into proper location Ability to plan and organize within a work schedule Possess good communication skills, both oral and written Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions Ability to take direction, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities Physical Demand/Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
