Business Development Manager, Furniture

ResponsibilitiesThe Business Development Manager (Furniture) is responsible for prospecting, identifying, and developing furniture business with new customers, and identifying and growing furniture within existing Complete Office accounts. This includes engaging in face-to-face sales activities, building relationships with key influencers and decision makers, and developing a clear understanding of customer business issues and needs.This position will create customized furniture solutions based on customer requirements, including scope, aesthetics, budget, and timeline. The BDM (Furniture) will effectively communicate these requirements to Interior Designers, Project Specialists, and Project Managers to deliver comprehensive solutions.The Business Development Manager (Furniture) will develop and execute sales strategies and tactics for new opportunities within existing accounts by collaborating with internal and external business partners (e.g., ODP Business Solutions) to identify business opportunities, increase sales, and satisfy customer needs.This role is responsible for entering and maintaining all pursuit, opportunity, and follow-up activities in the CRM system and accurately managing all funnel stages. The BDM (Furniture) will also serve as the single point of contact for all pre-sales and post-sales furniture projects, including issue resolution and overall customer satisfaction.The Business Development Manager (Furniture) will maintain a breadth of knowledge related to furniture product solutions offered by vendors, as well as current economic and industry trends. This includes educating customers and Complete Office partners on industry trends and best practices, attending networking events, and supporting business development efforts through cold calling, networking, and referrals.This position will have the responsibility to achieve individual revenue and gross profit targets within their accounts. It is anticipated that the BDM (Furniture) will generate annual revenue in excess of $2M and IGM of $400k.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Design, General Business, Marketing, or equivalent experienceMinimum 3 years’ experience in a related fieldOther InformationMinimum 3 years’ experience in sales developing new business and growing accountsExperience in interior design or project management a plusExperience with contract-grade furniture manufacturers preferredExperience and willingness to participate in industry-specific affiliated programs a plusProficient in Microsoft O365 applications; comfortable using Microsoft TeamsExperience with industry furniture sales and design tools (e.g., Spec, 2020 Worksheet, KiTS Collaborator, GIZA, AutoCAD LT)Ability to read architectural blueprints/drawings and understand furniture layouts and space planningStrong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiating skillsStrong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to uncover and qualify business opportunities through telephone and face-to-face prospectingCustomer service and networking skills; occasional travel required, including some evenings and/or weekendsIndependent, self-motivated, and flexible with respect to change initiativesAbility to build professional relationships, positively influence decisions, and remain perseverant despite customer objectionsAbility to perceive verbal and non-verbal cues to identify unanticipated customer needsPossessing a personal vehicle for business purposes, including occasional travel to customer locations and other business-related activities, is preferredAbout The ODP CorporationThe ODP Corporation is a leading provider of products and services through an integrated business-to-business (B2B) distribution platform and omnichannel presence, which includes world-class supply chain and distribution operations, dedicated sales professionals, online presence, and a network of Office Depot and OfficeMax retail stores.
