*API Developer / Subject Matter Expert*Ready to apply Before you do, make sure to read all the details pertaining to this job in the description below.Required Qualifications:* US Citizen * Have a related industry standard certification in server, database, or developer areas [MuleSoft, cloud certifications (i.e. AWS or Azure architect), Security Certifications (i.e. CompTIA), Database Certifications] * 8+ years of experience, with leadership in API strategy, security, and enterprise-wide API governance * Strong understanding of mortgage processing workflows, loan origination systems (LOS), and mortgage-backed security systems * Hands-on experience with API gateways, microservices architecture, and cloud-based API developments (AWS, Azure or GCP). * Security experience, including API security frameworks, token-based authentication (JWT), mTLS, Oauth2, and API threat detection. * Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated API testing frameworks.The USDA Rural Development Technology Office has operational oversight over the Guaranteed Underwriting System (GUS), which is a platform for processing mortgage loan applications for rural housing.GUS is a home-grown government application, so it connects externally to lenders' loan systems via API to exchange residential loan application data.USDA needs help building out their Business-to-Government (B2G) API interface to create a seamless data exchange between lenders and the federal government. xkddfxhUltimately, the goal would be to:* Review and validate API architectures * Build security into the process through authentication, encryption, and threat protection.
