FSQA DirectorLocation: California (On‑site Manufacturing Environment)About the RoleA leading food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance Director to oversee food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and quality operations within a high‑volume production facility. This role is critical in maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong food safety culture across operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and maintain site food safety and quality programs in compliance with USDA, FDA, and GFSI standardsOwn and manage HACCP, Preventive Controls, and prerequisite programs (sanitation, allergens, pest control, environmental monitoring)Serve as primary contact for regulatory inspections, third‑party audits, and customer auditsInvestigate food safety and quality deviations, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective CAPAsPartner cross‑functionally with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Leadership to drive accountability and complianceDeliver training and coaching to develop strong food safety knowledge at all levels of the organizationMonitor performance metrics, identify risks, and implement continuous improvement initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field5+ years of progressive experience in food safety/quality within a manufacturing environment (protein or perishable foods preferred)Strong working knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations, GFSI schemes, HACCP, and Preventive ControlsExperience leading audits and interfacing with regulatory agenciesDemonstrated ability to influence teams and drive food safety cultureCertifications such as HACCP, PCQI, or Internal Auditor strongly preferred
