Supply Chain Process Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our supply chain operations. In this role, you will be pivotal in optimizing processes, fostering technology development, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives alongside our suppliers. Your expertise in industrial engineering and manufacturing processes will drive significant improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
Responsibilities
Spearhead supplier development activities, with a focus on special process commodities like surface finishing and coating.
Develop and maintain supplier capability and technology roadmaps in partnership with commodity managers and supplier leadership.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact between suppliers and internal teams, managing the supplier side of the DFM process.
Evaluate supplier production capabilities, processes, facilities, and workforce to inform AVL decisions and commodity strategies.
Identify and resolve failure modes to ensure supply continuity, employing diagnostic processes.
Lead capacity assessments, monitoring, and expansion efforts at suppliers to meet demand forecasts.
Oversee the APQP process and ensure successful PPAP in collaboration with SQE.
Support SQE with root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or supply chain engineering.
Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Demonstrated success in manufacturing process improvement.
Experience in assessing supplier capabilities and influencing commodity strategies.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and advanced metrology.
Knowledge of aerospace and defense surface finishing specifications, processes, and technologies.
Experience building a supplier development function or leading a supplier development team.
