This role will focus on building secure, scalable, and high-performing server-side applications and APIs that support taxpayer-facing digital services. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end engineers, DevOps, cybersecurity, and IRS stakeholders, to design, develop, and maintain back-end solutions aligned with IRS cloud and security standards. This position is a remote position, with potential for periodic on-site presence in Washington, D.C., for key technical meetings, design sessions, or project milestones.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of secure back-end services, RESTful APIs, and microservices that integrate with IRS digital platforms.Implement best practices for cloud-native applications in an AWS and Kubernetes-based environment, ensuring compliance with IRS Publication 4812, NIST 800-53, and FISMA requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.Contribute to performance tuning, scalability testing, and capacity planning to meet IRS standards for availability and load performance.Collaborate with product owners, technical leads, and stakeholders to refine user stories and translate them into functional back-end features.Support CI/CD processes using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SonarQube, including automated testing and secure deployments.Perform unit testing, integration testing, and assist in developing automated test cases to ensure 90%+ code coverage for critical functionality.Education RequiredEducation, Certification & Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.Clearance RequiredIRS Public Trust Security Clearance (Required).CertificationsCompTIA Sec+ (or equivalent baseline DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification) (Preferred).AWS Certified Developer – Associate (or equivalent cloud certification) (Preferred).Experience Required7+ years of back-end development experience, including at least 3+ years in a senior or lead developer role.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments delivering iterative releases.Familiarity with IRS cloud environments, FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 standards.Experience with tools such as Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, NexusIQ, Selenium, and AppDynamics.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExpertise in back-end programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Node.js, or Python) and API design for enterprise applications.Strong understanding of secure software development, including encryption, authentication/authorization, and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and database schemas in a cloud-based environment.Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Podman), Kubernetes, and AWS cloud services.Ability to architect scalable, maintainable back-end solutions aligned with enterprise security and compliance requirements.Ability to lead technical decision-making and collaborate effectively with cross-functional Agile teams.Why Join Command Cyber SolutionsWe recognize that our success begins with our people.
