Potential onsite visits, 1-2 times for the duration of the contract)About the roleIn this role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor to senior leaders while providing hands-on technical leadership across cloud architecture, DevSecOps engineering, and enterprise security operations. You will help operationalize security controls, guide risk governance decisions, and support statewide cybersecurity initiatives in a highly visible environment. You will also play a key role in mentoring and upskilling infrastructure and security operations staff through pair engineering, technical coaching, and engineering leadership.Key responsibilitiesServe as a trusted technical advisor to the CISO, CIO, and other senior executive stakeholdersSupport the implementation of the Accelerated Exposure Reduction Plan across a large, complex enterprise environmentProvide senior-level technical leadership in cloud architecture and DevSecOps engineeringOperationalize security controls, including tiering models, compensating control validation, and time-bound risk governance structuresMentor, train, and upskill infrastructure and security operations staff through pair engineering and technical coachingPartner with cross-functional teams to strengthen enterprise security posture and exposure reduction effortGuide best practices across security engineering, infrastructure, and cloud operationsRequired experienceCandidates must be able to demonstrate prior experience in large and complex environments with the following:Serving as a trusted technical advisor to CISOs, CIOs, or senior executive leaders within public sector or heavily federated enterprise environmentsActing as a technical mentor, trainer, or engineering lead focused on pair engineering and technical upskillingOperationalizing security controls, including tiering models, compensating control validation, and time-bound risk governance structuresDelivering cloud architecture and DevSecOps engineering solutionsRequired technical expertiseStrong experience with the following enterprise cybersecurity and engineering technologies is required:Google Threat Intelligence / VirusTotalGoogle SecOpsMandiant ASMTenable.ioMicrosoft Azure ArcGitHubGitHub Advanced SecurityAnsible TowerGemini and Anthropic AI security frameworksNice to haveExperience working in federated or government environmentsBroader exposure to Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Splunk environmentsThe ideal candidateThe ideal candidate is a senior cybersecurity leader who can move seamlessly between executive advisory work and hands-on technical engineering.
