DescriptionJob Title: Recreation Activities SpecialistLocation: Wellspring Livonia - New DirectionsReports to: Director of Group LivingPosition Type: Part-time | HourlyAccepting applications until May 6, 2026.Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a part-time, Recreation Activities Specialist to join our New Directions team in Livonia.Responsibilities Develops, organizes, and implements structured programs such as art, music, sports, games, fitness, and educational workshops that align with residents’ interests and treatment goals. Plans and facilitates out of school weekday programming (summer, breaks) Encourages resident participation, promotes teamwork and cooperation, and models positive social interactions consistent with program expectations. Develops and maintains the monthly activity calendar and manages supplies and materials for all scheduled activities. Supervise activities to maintain resident and staff safety; tailors programs to accommodate individual abilities and restrictions. Partners with program staff, case managers, teachers, volunteers, and community agencies to enhance programming and facilitate special events, workshops, and community outreach projects. Inventories, organizes, and maintains equipment and supplies related to activities. Ensures proper care and cleanliness of all recreational areas and materials. Participates in staff meetings, in-services training, and program planning sessions Promotes a positive work environment through professional conduct, teamwork and a helpful, positive attitude to all co-workers and customers Efficient time management and prioritization of work Performs other duties and accomplishes other goals as directed Qualifications Associate’s degree or equivalent education in Recreational Therapy, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Occupational Therapy, Behavior Analysis or a closely related field with at least two (2) years of full-time experience working with youth in a residential, educational, or recreational setting is preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent with 4 years of full-time experience working with youth in a residential, educational, or recreational setting is required. A Michigan drivers license with a clean driving record and current auto-insurance Experience working with cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, and/ or physically impaired or otherwise developmentally disabled youth in a special education or residential treatment service setting Experience working with children who have experienced significant trauma, loss and separation Schedule And Compensation Schedule: Part-time, 20 - 24 hours per week Shift: Morning and Afternoon hours, 4 - 5 hour shifts Travel: Occasional travel for activities and planning Weekends: Occasional for activity events On-call: None On-site: Working on-site in Livonia and travel locally for activities and shopping Pay rate: $21.50 - $25.00 per hour, based off experience & educational background Benefits Dedicated and supportive team Paid Time Off Paid Holidays DailyPay option for on-demand pay Wellspring SupportLinc, an employee assistance program Location Wellspring Lutheran Services - New Directions33600 Luther LnLivonia, MI 48154
