Hardware Testing Engineer
Role Description:
The Hardware Testing Engineer will work on-site in Fairport, NY in a contract role, supporting the verification and validation of hardware systems for customer projects. This role involves designing and executing test plans and test cases, performing functional and regression testing, and documenting test results and defects in a clear, traceable manner. The engineer will collaborate with design, firmware, and systems teams to review requirements, identify test coverage, and support root cause analysis for hardware issues. Daily responsibilities include configuring test setups, using test instruments and measurement tools, following relevant standards and procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement of test methodologies. The role requires strict adherence to safety, quality, and compliance guidelines while meeting project schedules and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute hardware & embedded system test plans
- Build and maintain automated test solutions
- Perform electrical, firmware/software, mechanical, environmental & system-level testing
- Design and qualify test fixtures and automated test setups
- Analyze failures and perform Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Track defects and corrective actions using JIRA
- Work with design, firmware/software, and project teams
- Coordinate regulatory testing with UL, CSA, TĂśV, and other labs
- Document test results, issues, and compliance requirements Mandatory Skills:
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong embedded hardware testing experience
- Test automation experience with Python or equivalent scripting
- Hands-on experience with test fixtures and automated setups
- Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal/function generators, and environmental equipment
- Knowledge of analog/digital systems and sensors
