Position Type:Athletics/Activities/Activity Sponsor Date Posted:5/14/2026 Location: Cooperstown Elementary School Job Title: Red Hot Ropers AdvisorLocation: Cooperstown Elementary SchoolReports To: Director of Physical Education, Athletics & Extracurricular Activities- Josh Wagner Overview:The Red Hot Ropers Advisor leads and manages the Cooperstown Elementary School jump rope club, known as the Red Hot Ropers. This vibrant and active group promotes fitness, coordination, confidence, and creativity through the art of jump rope. The advisor is responsible for planning and overseeing practices, performances, and outreach programs while fostering a fun and inclusive environment for students. Key Responsibilities:Organize and lead practices twice a week from early October through February break.Instruct students in jump rope techniques, including individual tricks, partner routines, long rope, and double dutch.Develop and coordinate group and individual performance routines.Oversee tryouts, typically held once or twice a week until Thanksgiving.Plan and manage three major performances per year: A school assembly to promote jump rope to the student body.A halftime performance at a high school varsity basketball game.A halftime performance at a college basketball game.Maintain and manage jump rope equipment and materials.Encourage a spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and enjoyment among all participants.Seek and mentor a potential future adviser to ensure program sustainability.Mission Statement:Jumping rope helps develop coordination, agility, self-confidence, and creativity while providing lots of exercise and fun! Performance opportunities exist, but the main benefit remains the practice, learning, and enjoyment.Preferred Qualifications:Performance or Choreography Experience:Experience choreographing routines for group performances (dance, cheer, gymnastics, or similar activities).Comfort in organizing and leading public performances for student groups.Physical Education or Coaching Background:Experience in youth coaching, physical education, or recreational program management.Community Engagement:Experience coordinating outreach events or working with schools/community programs to promote student involvement.Leadership Development:Willingness to mentor future leaders or advisors to ensure continuity of the program.Personal Traits:High energy and enthusiasm for working with young children.Patience, creativity, and a strong sense of fun.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Commitment to inclusivity and teamwork.Dependability and a collaborative spirit.
