This role is pivotal in supporting and enhancing enterprise healthcare reporting systems, primarily focusing on the National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS) and Healthcare Systems Program (HSP). As a Senior SQL Application Developer, you will serve as the principal technical resource, responsible for developing, administering, and optimizing complex SQL databases across Windows and Linux environments. Your expertise will be critical in migrating legacy reports, modernizing reporting solutions, and ensuring the stability and security of mission-critical healthcare data systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate healthcare reporting requirements into validated, scalable SQL solutions, supporting the organization’s commitment to delivering accurate and reliable healthcare data.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of experience in SQL database development and administration. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced SQL programming, database migration, and performance optimization is essential. Candidates should have strong Linux administration skills, including shell scripting and system management, along with proven experience migrating databases and reports across platforms. Expertise in both Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is required, along with familiarity with IBM DB2 healthcare data sources. Certifications such as MCSA or MCSE in SQL Server are preferred. A thorough understanding of federal healthcare compliance standards, including HIPAA, and experience supporting federal healthcare systems like Indian Health Service (IHS) will be advantageous. Technical proficiency should encompass SQL Server (Windows and Linux), ETL tools (SSIS), automation (SQL Server Agent), and cloud platforms such as Azure. The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of this role include administering Microsoft SQL Server databases in both Windows and Linux environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and high availability. You will monitor database health, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot performance issues, and support disaster recovery and infrastructure upgrades. Developing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to meet healthcare reporting needs is a core function. Additionally, you will lead efforts to modernize legacy Crystal Reports by converting them into SSRS reports, maintaining report functionality and business logic integrity. Developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SSIS packages for data integration and ETL workflows is vital for supporting enterprise reporting initiatives. You will also support database migrations, cloud platform integrations, and ensure data integrity throughout these processes. Providing production support by developing and monitoring SQL Server Agent jobs, automated workflows, and operational alerts is essential to maintain system reliability. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions, document procedures, and support operational deployments are also key aspects of this role.
