Apply via Dice today!Web Accessibility Subject Matter Expert (SME)Remote OverviewThe Contractor will serve as an Web Accessible Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing specialized consulting services to support web accessibility in the Client’s system. This role supports the implementation and expansion of the client Accessibility Capability Maturity Model across colleges, districts, the client’s , and other systemwide entities.The SME will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leading and delivering accessibility-related projects that strengthen compliance, build institutional capacity, and promote equitable access to digital technology.Key Deliverables:Assist in the web accessibility area of the Accessibility Capability Maturity Model (ACMM), baseline reports and annual re-evaluation reports.Review and validate documentation, process descriptions, and resources that support selected status levels to complete the web goals and milestones of the ACMM reports.Provide recommendations to colleges and districts on ACMM web accessibility next steps.Provide guidance to client entities on web accessibility compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., Section 508, WCAG, ADA).Review, analyze, and evaluate products and services for accessibility compliance for the client Provide ad-hoc technical assistance on web accessibility to client entities and client’s networks as requested.Assist in facilitating virtual webinars and workshops on accessibility integration into web workflows.Create base content for web accessibility resources and training.RequiredSkills and AbilitiesMaintain current working knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to digital accessibility including, but not limited to: Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act; Americans with Disabilities Act; California Government Code 11135 and 7405; Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act; Section 225 of the Telecommunications Act, WCAG 2.1, and other web accessibility legislationAbility to work collaboratively and independentlyAbility to analyze and critically review informationCultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with individuals and groups from diverse backgroundsExperience in web accessibility, web compliance, or related fields.Demonstrated knowledge of Section 508, WCAG, ADA, and related accessibility and web accessibility standards.PreferredEffective writing, presentation, facilitation, and communication skillsBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.Ability to adapt to changing accessibility initiatives and readily adapt behavior to maintain effective performanceExperience in coordinating complex projects that involve high levels of collaboration related to web accessibility.Experience developing successful business processes involving web accessibilityAbility to understand the long-term direction of the client Accessibility Center and relate this to day-to-day operations Ability to adapt to new methodologiesAbility to identify and act in areas where change is appropriateStrong understanding of capability maturity models and evidence requirementsExperience providing consulting or technical assistance in higher education environments.Trusted Tester or comparable accessibility certification.tFamiliarity with Client''s web accessibility processes and accessibility initiatives.California resident
