2nd shift Supervisor, Production

Job TitleOverall Supervision of hourly union employees on our second shift schedule (3:30pm-2:00am), maintaining Safety, Quality, Deliver and Cost objectives.If your skills, experience, and qualifications match those in this job overview, do not delay your application.Impact of the RoleGeneral ProfileWorking supervisor of a team (spends a portion of time performing the work supervised) or supervises the daily activities of production team membersMust have one or more of any direct report typeAnalyses information to solve on-going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete workResponsible for results of the teamProvides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practicesConsistent exercise of discretion & judgmentEssential FunctionsSupervises production operations for assigned units or during an assigned shift.Supervises workers that operate production machinery, assemble items, perform quality control, or package goods for shipment.Notifies maintenance or engineering departments when equipment requires maintenance or repair.Monitors output of assigned area(s) against established schedules or quality goals. Coordinates the flow of work through the department and ensures that department has sufficient levels of inventory to meet demand and is staffed appropriately.Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR Directors & General Managers.Required QualificationsRequired education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or ExperienceCritical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Preferred QualificationsPreferred education and experience: Bachelor's DegreeDiscipline/Major: Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations or Business degree preferredKnowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Decision-making skills. Problem/situation analysis. Project management skills. Planning skills.Physical RequirementsMust be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.May need to stand for long periods of time.Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.May be requested to work a different shift.This position is Safety-Sensitive. xevrcycTravel RequirementsUp to 25% travel likely.
