And we’re just getting started!The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll through ADP Workforce Now system and serves as the trusted advocate to all employees. The Payroll Specialist is highly organized, detail oriented and demonstrates a high level of accuracy in completing complex tasks requiring continuous attention. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role works closely with the Payroll team, administering the Company’s payroll process function.This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or future Boston, MA office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.Payroll Processing & AdministrationResponsible for timely and accurate processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for 4,000+ employees across multiple states.Processes supplemental and out-of-sequence payrolls quarterly, or as needed.Processes stock transactions in accordance with vesting schedule.Prepares manual checks, gross-ups, and ADP a-Wisely pay cards as needed and ensures net pay is done properly and accurately.Responsible for understanding payroll tax associated with special payments and ensuring appropriate tax rate is utilized.Compliance, Auditing & Payroll AccuracyAudits payroll entries to ensure accuracy of all payments and changes utilizing custom reporting tool; reviews payments processed by ADP.Ensures payroll transactions are compliant with SOX, US GAPP, and corporate policies with respect to all transactions and/or changes that affect payroll.Responsible for electronic storage of all documentation related to payroll and in accordance with SOX.Provides internal and external support for the payroll and time and attendance keeping system to reduce risk in the areas of wage and hour compliance.Proactively confers with Payroll Manager on interpretation of company policies and government regulations which have an effect on the payroll function.Assists Payroll Manager in year-end processing activities related to auditing and issuing W-2 forms to employees and on special projects as needed.Employee Support & Cross-Functional CollaborationResponds to and resolves high volume of employee and manager inquiries and/or problems on a timely basis.Liaise with Human Resources team on new hires, terminations, and changes.Partners with Benefits in auditing leaves of absence and accrued time off balances.Provides management teams and Human Resources team with ad hoc reports as requested.Confidentiality, Reporting & Operational SupportResearches and handles extremely confidential information in an expeditious and discretionary manner.Performs other functions as required.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2+ years of experience in a multi-state payroll environment supporting both exempt and non-exempt employeesDemonstrated ability to apply intermediate-level mathematical concepts and calculations, with a strong understanding of accounting, finance, and business administration principlesStrong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and WordProficient in ADP Workforce Now and custom reporting tools; experience with additional HCM platforms is a plusDemonstrated ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems, software, and evolving technologiesStrong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectivelyMaintains a high level of professionalism, patience, and composure while objectively addressing employee and manager concernsStrong attention to detail, efficient, and organized with an ability to establish priorities and objectivesExcellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organizationAble to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externallyDedicated learner with a natural curiosity for consistent growthExhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environmentCooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, “can-do” attitude!Planet Fitness cares about you and your well-being.
