The primary role of the Software Engineer is to develop, implement and maintain software that is used to deliver positive customer outcomes such as the digital transformation of manufacturing processes. The role will focus on standardizing customizable software solutions to be scalable and readily adaptable for various customer applications. This will also include some minimal engagement with various external customers to ensure the customer’s needs and questions are being addressed. Kendall’s Professional Services team exists to add value to customers by driving positive outcomes through Software as a Service solutions.Exciting Work You Will DoThe essential duties and responsibilities of the Software Engineer position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:Develop new standardized but configurable software solutions to drive positive customer outcomesImplement technical solutions for various customersMaintain existing solutions and make improvements based on prioritiesProactively identify enhancements to existing software solutionsOwn and prioritize opportunities passed from marketing, outside sales, and national accountsManage workflow and competing prioritiesProvide timely updates to internal and external contactsParticipate in scoping and quoting portions of customer opportunitiesMaximize company value by utilizing strategic partner productsRe-deploy standard software solutions previously developed by the teamKeep software repositories such as GitHub updated with developed solutionsImplement and adhere to high standards of program documentation and version controlCollaborate with QA engineers to develop and execute comprehensive testing plans, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testingStay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices; contribute innovative ideasContribute to the full software development lifecycle including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenanceParticipate in agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, including attending planning meetings and retrospectivesDocument software design, architecture, and processes to support knowledge sharing and maintainabilityPerform other duties as assignedCompetencies You PossessService ExcellenceResults, Action OrientedAccountability and ResponsibilityDecision QualityDisplaying Technical ExpertiseProblem SolvingTeamwork and CollaborationPriority SettingWhat You’ll NeedWork Experience: 1 year of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role with a portfolio of projectsEducation: Associate’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experienceComputer/Analytical Skills: Experience with MS Office; ability to learn new software; proficiency in one or more programming languages; familiarity with development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git)Organization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities; able to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and sometimes ambiguous environmentCross-functional Skills: Effective collaboration across teams; strong problem-solving abilities; ability to analyze and resolve complex technical challengesCommunication Skills: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsPhysical, Mental and Visual Skills: Ability to see, sit, talk, and hear; ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilitiesPhysical Environment: Normal office environmentTravel: Up to 50%Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s licenseQualifications We Prefer But Don’t RequireWork Experience: Experience with Plex, Fiix, FactoryTalk Optix, or similar SCADA software; exposure to industrial or manufacturing environments; experience working on a team of highly skilled professionals; experience delivering or interacting with SaaSAnalytics/Computer Skills: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; understanding of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes; knowledge of database systems and SQLThe Kendall Group is an equal opportunity employer.
