Accounting Assistant

Department: AccountingDivision: Accounting & GeneralReports To: Accounting Manager / Assistant General Manager / General ManagerSupervises: N/APosition Summary:Responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions, overseeing the night audit process, and processing bi-weekly payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations while supporting accurate financial reporting.Key Responsibilities: Oversee the night audit function; may occasionally work the night audit shift as required. Perform daily cashiering responsibilities, including accurate posting of cash entries and reconciliation of credit card transmissions. Ensure daily revenue postings are accurate and correct errors as needed. Assist with daily and month-end journal entries to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting. Complete and/or assist with month-end closing responsibilities for various entities. Assist external and regulatory auditors by providing accounting records, documentation, and explanations as needed. Manage accounts payable processes. Prepare daily revenue reporting. Maintain accounting file storage and records. Complete special projects as assigned. Promote a safe environment for employees and guests by identifying and addressing safety or security issues. Maintain an organized and clean work area while practicing safe work habits. Exhibit teamwork and cooperation by performing other duties as needed or directed.Qualifications: Advanced understanding of general ledger accounting systems. Experience with M3 accounting software preferred. Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work varying schedules as required to meet deadlines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred. Two (2) or more years of hospitality accounting experience preferred. College degree preferred.Job Environment: Primarily indoors within office and hotel facilities. Requires sitting for extended periods during shifts. Some lifting required, up to 25 pounds.
