This position reports to the Underwriting Manager. The Underwriter II is responsible for providing consistency in credit quality and decisions, process flow, and customer service (both internal and external). The salary range is $80,000 -$90,000 plus bonus. Responsibilities and Duties o Stay abreast of current trend in the mortgage industry (investor/agency/government guidelines, etc.) o Assist processors in understanding underwriting decisions/guidelines and conditions o Ensure loan files are compliant and eligible in the secondary market by completing a thorough and accurate review of the loan file at initial and final approval stages o Manage timely responses to all post-closing requests (24 hours or less) o Manage timely responses to all QC rebuttal requests as set by QC administrator when notice given o Keep detailed notes in Sterling regarding approval basis to assist with post-closing, QC or management should questions regarding an approval arise o Underwrite all conventional and at least 1 government or specialty product offered by Silverton Mortgage o Maintain current turn times as set by management with 95% rating o Maintain an overall Quarterly error ratio of no more than 5% o Consistently exceed volume metric of 2 initial submissions per day Education, Knowledge, Experience o Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience o DE required o Excellent understanding of investor, agency and government guidelines o Excellent understanding of Silverton internal policy and procedures o College degree preferred but not required Skills o Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Loan Origination System - OpenClose o Excellent Time Management o Proven Written and Verbal Communication skills Technology Proficiencies o Internet Explorer o Microsoft Office o WebEx o GUS/DU/LP o FHA Connection Silverton Mortgage is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
