AEG’s core purpose is to “improve the health of our community by helping our neighbors see better and look their best, one patient at a time.” We are assembling a team of experienced industry professionals to help build AEG into the best place to work and ensure that each patient of the practices under management has an outstanding patient experience.Director of Accounting, InventoryAbout The RoleThe Director of Accounting, Inventory is responsible for leading a team of accountants and directing all inventory accounting functions. This person is responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure the company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies. The Director of Accounting, Inventory will ensure, establish and maintain inventory accounting principles, practices, procedures and initiatives.Lead all inventory accounting functions, including valuation, reserves, costing, reconciliations, and reporting.Responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing the inventory accounting teamEstablish and maintain accounting policies related to inventory in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and cost efficiency.Ensure accurate inventory reporting in financial statements and disclosures.Support external audits, internal audits, and compliance reviews.Research and implement new accounting guidance affecting inventory.Develop and enhance inventory reconciliation and bi-annual count procedures.Oversee physical inventory counts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across inventory accounting processes.Collaborate with IT teams on system implementations and enhancements.Work closely with supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, FP&A, and operations leadership. Provide financial analysis and inventory insights to support strategic business decisions.Coordinate and oversee the AEG activities relative to internal controls documentation and testing and segregation dutiesProvide advice and counsel on matters to the SVP – ControllerPromote AEGs core valuesKey DeliverablesEffectively lead a high performing team of accountantsProvide subject matter expertise on implementation of AEG’s accounting principlesAssist in the preparation of accounting entries and accurate trial balances at a practice levelOversee audit processes and proactively communicate with auditors on accounting for complex transactionsSupport SVP – Controller with special accounting projects and process improvementsRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is requiredMaster’s degree preferredCPA preferred10+ years of Accounting experience with significant inventory exposure.Leadership experience managing accounting teamsStrong knowledge of GAAP, SOX, inventory valuation, and ERP systems.Healthcare experience is a plusEquivalent combination of education and/or experience may be consideredKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesProficiency in using MS Office.Knowledge of GAAPAbility to use software to develop spreadsheets and perform data analysisAbility to interpret data and make recommendationsAbility to identify, initiate and execute plans for process improvementAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently with a sense of urgencyDemonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high performing teamsExcellent verbal and written communication skills: demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communicationAbility to maintain confidentiality
